A Fortune 500 global healthcare company with operations in more than 100 countries, with products sold in approximately 150 countries needed a communications solution that would enable senior executives to educate, align, inspire and motivate employees on a global basis, with live broadcast and rebroadcast events comprised of high quality, live audio and video.
The company was already leveraging satellite equipment to communicate to large venues and multiple locations with live audio and video. However, this was an extremely expensive solution and required several weeks before a live event to lease satellite equipment for broadcasts.
Research shows that significantly more than half of all corporate-change initiatives fail to achieve their financial objectives. The principal reason: poor employee communication. The ability of a company to carry on an effective dialogue with its employees directly affects its bottom-line performance, driving such objectives as productivity, quality, safety, customer loyalty, and employee retention.[*]
The IPTV Solution for Corporate Communications enabled the company to leverage their existing network infrastructure to cost-effectively broadcast high quality, live audio and video to all their employees around the world. Furthermore, the solution enabled entirely new, powerful functionality that was not available with satellite, such as instant feedback through Q&A and polling, a program guide on the enterprise portal, a Video on Demand portal that enables search by keyword, and access control to live and on-demand webcasts based on group membership.
The solution is based on the Jubilant ERM² Platform and best-of-breed multimedia encoders and presentation systems from Jubilant's technology partners.
The solution provided a highly automated workflow that minimized the IT staffing requirements and associated costs to operate an IPTV broadcasting service that can meet mission-critical requirements.
The company is scheduled to use the solution for more than 200 broadcasts or rebroadcasts by the top senior executives of the company, and will also enable direct reports of these executives to use the solution.
The solution has become a mission-critical business tool in the company, and according to the Chief Executive Officer, the costs of neglecting the executive communication enabled by this solution are flawed execution and missed goals that ultimately result in the loss of ground to competitors:
"As always, in order to be successful, our company needs to be fully aligned with all the key priorities of the company, cascading down, and this broadcast is one way to help the cascading of this information, so we all execute flawlessly what is an ambition plan for the future..."
The IPTV Solution was provided by AT&T, who provided the Jubilant ERM² Platform, best-of-breed multimedia encoders and presentation systems, and Enterprise Content Delivery Network. Furthermore AT&T also provided consulting services, standard operating procedures, training, and support - everything necessary to ensure a secure, reliable IPTV solution for the company.
